The Shri Vishwakarma Kaushal Vikas Board is a government-supported organization established by the Government of Rajasthan to promote skill development and employment among traditional artisans - particularly those engaged in wood and metal-based trades. The board functions under the Department of Skill, Planning, and Entrepreneurship, Government of Rajasthan.

Establishment & Purpose

The Government of Rajasthan established this board with the objective of strengthening skill development among traditional Vishwakarma artisans and improving their access to employment and self-employment opportunities. The board focuses on preserving centuries-old craftsmanship while integrating modern skill training methodologies. The board is registered as a society under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958, with registration number 501192. It holds recognition under Section 12A and Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, and is also registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) for CSR activities through CSR-1 registration.

Administration

The board is administered under the Department of Skill, Planning, and Entrepreneurship, Government of Rajasthan. Shri Ramgopal Suthar was appointed as the first Chairman of the board. Under his leadership, the board has prioritized integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies, enhancing artisan competitiveness, and establishing partnerships with institutions like the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), Jaipur.

Board Composition

The board consists of a total of 19 members, comprising political representatives and government officials. All members are nominated by the Government of Rajasthan.

  • 10 government members - officers at Additional Chief Secretary and Director level

Activities & Programs

The board conducts and supports skill development programs aimed at improving craftsmanship in traditional trades such as carpentry, metalwork, and other artisan-based occupations. It also provides financial and tool assistance - including loans for carpentry tools - to trained individuals upon completion of courses, enabling them to start independent work or establish small enterprises.
